Abstract The Bard family is one of the most influential families in Ventura County history. The family moved to the area from Pennsylvania by Thomas R. Bard in the 1860s. He was soon followed by his brother, Cephas "Little" Bard, who was a trained medical doctor. Thomas R. Bard was involved in local politics and went on to serve as a senator in the U.S. Senate. This collection contains photographs, newspaper clippings and historical highlights of Boy Scout activities, ceremonies and events throughout Ventura County. This collection was donated to the museum by Thomas R. Carr, a lifelong Eagle Scout in Ventura County who served under several board member positions for the Ventura County Boy Scout Council.

Abstract

The Saticoy Poinsettia Club was incorporated in 1899 and was originally named the Saticoy Literary and Social Club until 1902. It was formed for the purpose of promoting sociality among its members and for the betterment of their recently established community in Saticoy. This collection includes their historical documents, yearbooks, scrapbooks, minutes, financial and administrative records.

Saticoy Lionettes was a women’s auxiliary group of the Saticoy Lions Club, whose purpose was to promote sociability among its members as well as promote civic welfare. Saticoy Lionettes formed in 1964 and the collection includes the club’s organizational records and scrapbooks detailing their activities together and within the community.
